February Favorites

I’m usually one to embrace the positive aspects about every month, but March just couldn’t come soon enough.  February was such a miserable month, so all I could do was hope that some sunshine and warm weather was on its way. Unlike most other months, I didn’t really get a chance to do something really fun that’s worth mentioning. My family went on our annual ski trip in Austria, but I decided that Uni was slightly more important than frolicking in the snow for one week. I only have three weeks of Uni left until my 5-week Easter break and as you can imagine, I’m beyond excited for some time at home. I’ll still have plenty to do with exams coming up, but mostly I can’t wait to spend long days in the kitchen testing recipes and taking pictures.

  1. My ultimate favorite of the month is a card I got from my sister asking me to be her maid of honor. It was quite emotional and of course I said yes! She ordered the personalized cards from Etsy and also gave each bridesmaid a beautiful bracelet. My sister will have six bridesmaids in total, two of which are maids of honor {me and her best friend}. Being the dedicated maid of honor that I am, I’ve creating a secret pinterest board with cute ideas for the wedding, bridal shower and hen weekend and I can’t wait to go dress shopping with Christina. So far, we’re Christina and Fraser are in the very early stages of planning so nothing has really been decided on. But I do know which shoes I’ll be wearing. As you can tell, the important things have been thought about.
  2. Thanks to Rachel Phipps, I’ve discovered Canyon Juicery. I picked up  a couple of juices the last time I was in the Notting Hill neighborhood and was very impressed. It immediately brought back memories of the juicing retreat I attended last summer. Unfortunately, the juices are really expensive so the trip to the shop will have to remain a healthy splurge!
  3. I’ve been really enjoying the few sunny days we’ve had so far. Sunshine seems to be a rarity in the UK these days this year, but as soon as the sun’s out I usually grab my running shoes and hit the pavement. I’m doing a half-marathon at the beginning of April, but have been slacking terribly on my long runs so I’m hoping many short runs have the same effect!
  4. I’m still dreaming about the summer and have set my mind on wanting to learn how to surf. It will be a bit tricky at the lake, seeing as there aren’t real waves, but if worse comes to worse, I’ll just have to fly somewhere far away where there’s a beach. And just in case the surfing thing doesn’t work out, I’ll just do Stand-Up Paddling.
  5. I was super excited when POPSUGAR contacted me, asking whether I wanted to be part of Food POPSUGAR Select. My face can now be seen on the same page as the likes of some actual food bloggers which is still a bit strange. I’m very honored though!
  6. I discovered a new blog this month: Henry Happened. Apart from being a great source of all things DIY, you’ll find some amazing recipes, and best of all, gorgeous photography! An example is this recipe for quinoa pizza crust! So beautiful!
  7. And here are some other favorite blog posts from this month: Izy’s Double-Chocolate Peanut Butter Layer Cake {aka the cake that I will dig my face into on graduation day….can’t wait!}, Molly’s Chickpea Crust Pizza with Harissa and Spinach {beautiful photography, as per usual, and you can never have too many pizza recipes}, Sophie’s Weekend post {it had me daydreaming about what life in Australia would be like. My conclusion: less rain and more sunshine than life in the UK} and Katie’s Coconut Curry Soup {a delicious looking and super healthy bowl of soup}.

That’s all for now! Uni awaits me. I’ll talk to you soon! xo

Great list, Antonia! But what do you mean you’re with ‘actual’ food bloggers?! You’re an actual food blogger too! Thanks for including my soup in your list 🙂
