Happy Birthday to my Blog and Mo!

October 3, 2013

Today is a very special day. Not only is it my blog’s 2nd birthday, but it’s also my little younger brother’s birthday. Unfortunately I can’t be at home with him but we made sure to pre-celebrate two weeks ago.

Happy Birthday Mo

A few weeks ago I casually asked Mo whether he knew what kind of cake he wanted. One of the things he likes most is white chocolate so I already envisioned making a chocolate cake filled with layers of white mousse. However, Mo had a clear idea of the cake he wanted: a Train cake.

This is probably a good time to mention that Mo turns 19.

Train Birthday Cake

Our mom used to make this exact cake for us when we were younger and it was always pure joy eating it. The cake itself is really simple but it’s decorated with all kinds of delicious sweets and treats. And since Mo is an absolute buttercream-frosting lover I made sure to coat the cake with a rather hefty amount of frosting.

I’m in the process of typing up the recipe just in case your kids {or you!} would like a fun cake on your special day. I’ll try to post it later this week.

As for my blog’s birthday: I really, really wanted to organize a cool giveaway but things have gotten a bit hectic here. I flew back to London last week and spent the week partying with Christina {who just finished her PhD!!! – I’m super proud!!!!}, Alex, Fraser and Mo.

On Sunday I moved back to Uni and found some temporary work on campus which was a rather pleasant surprise. In addition to that I’ve also been busy testing out as many new gym classes as I can possibly fit into the day.

All this however means that I didn’t really have time to organize a proper birthday giveaway. I will make it up to you though…Even though I can’t give you a gift to say thank you, I’d like to take today as an opportunity to thank each and every one of you for reading my blog. I don’t say it often enough but I really appreciate having people, other than my mom, visit my blog. My posts and style of blogging have certainly evolved over the years and though the content may be slightly different, my passion for blogging has definitely grown. Blogging has become a very important part of my life and while I can’t always fit it in as much as I’d like to {work, uni and life, just sometimes get in the way} it’s still one of my favorite things. Blogging has taken me from a love for healthy and yummy food to finding {a bit too much} joy in capturing the beauty of the food. Food styling and photography are two things I most likely would have never discovered otherwise and I’m grateful that I have this little creative outlet where I can share it all with you.

Thank you all so much for reading, leaving thoughtful comments and being part of my life. I love you all!
