With the happiest and most wonderful day of the year a mere month away it’s time to get those cookies baking in the oven. I’m sure food bloggers all around will post all kinds of marvelous recipes which I will happily recreate throughout the next month. I loved seeing everyone’s Thanksgiving recipes but as good as all the stuffing and turkey recipes look, what really matters to me it was comes next: Christmas food! Below you’ll find some holiday food inspiration!!

The foodie blogosphere theme for this week was undoubtedly Thanksgiving. I’ve read countless holiday recaps and enjoyed seeing what everyone’s been eating these past few days. I’ve never participated in a Thanksgiving dinner but it does seem like it’s a stretchy-pants kind of event. If you are now clueless about what to do with all the leftovers Marla from Family Fresh  Cooking came up with the idea of “thanksgiving in a jar”. Genius if you ask me. I might just make all the sides myself so I can fill them into a jar to bring to work for a healthy lunch!

And when you’ve gobbled up all those leftover it’s time to start thinking about Christmas baking, right? I personally love the simplicity of having a tray of cookies on the table throughout December. But if you’re one of those who is into more non-traditional baking I found something for you. These peppermint pattie brownies by How Sweet It Is look divine. Super chocolaty combined with a touch of peppermint. To die for!!

I know someone who would love me even more if these cookies mysteriously found there way onto to our cookie tray this year. But really, wouldn’t everybody be more to than pleased to get their hands on one of these White Chocolate Covered Oreo Cookies by Cupcakes and Crablegs.

And for all those who’d rather slather thick layers of jam onto bread instead of stuffing their bellies with cookies {is there someone like that out there?} this Apple, Ginger and Cinnamon Jam by Donal Skehan may be something you’d like to look into. The flavors sound quite intriguing and the addition of the warming ginger is just perfect for the cooler months. I might make a few jars this weekend so have on hand for holiday gift baskets!

And if neither jam nor cookies will assuage your appetite for Christmas then I’m sure these Peppermint Crumble Bars by Something Swanky will.  The recipe calls for only 5 ingredients and this is what you get! It’s a win-win situation!! And if you really can’t make up your mind about whether you’re going to go with cookies or bars these crumble bars will look terrific on your cookie tray too.

With all this holiday food inspiration I am now ready to get in the kitchen and start baking. Who else is ready combat the colder months with good food?

 Ready for winter!!

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!!

Which recipe are you most looking forward to to trying this month? Cookies, bars or something completely different?
