Do you know what day today is? No, it’s not just another Wednesday. It’s the last August Wednesday! I can’t believe how fast time is flying. I know I say this all the time but seriously, someone make it stop. Although on second thought I’ve always been quite the fan of September. Come fall it used to be back to school, time for a new wardrobe, new stationary and lots of pumpkin recipes. I’ve always liked holding on to traditions so I’m sure a shopping trip to update my wardrobe is the books in the very near future and you can expect to see lots of pumpkin pics and recipes in the coming months
But before we say goodbye to the summer for good, let’s enjoy another round of WIAW brought to you by the lovely Jenn from Peas and Crayons.
Once again I’ll be sharing my weekend eats with you. My day started with a stack of Lemon-Buttermilk Pancakes with a drizzle of maple syrup and some extra berries to nibble on served on the side. I prepared the batter the night before so I could have breakfast on the table and in my belly as soon as possible. On the side, some orange juice and strawberry tea.
For lunch my mom made fish accompanied by the best side dishes. The potatoes were oven roasted to perfection and super flavorful and the zucchini had the perfect touch of garlic. It couldn’t have been any better.
The gigantic zucchini was actually picked right from the garden.
{Sides}
After lunch it was time for cake and coffee. Can’t wait to make this Poppy Seed-Plum cake again
My parents and brother abandoned me for the night which gave me plenty of time to go for a run, snuggle session with Sunny, do my own little kitchen project and catch up on my blog reading. Once dinner time rolled round all I wanted was bread with butter. I usually never, ever have butter just like that. I need to have it incorporated in cakes and cookies or other dishes. But when my mom and I went shopping last weekend I found Kerrygold Irish Butter at the grocery store and I just had to buy it. I bought it in England for whenever I needed butter in my recipes and it did not disappoint. The flavor is so much better than conventional {non Irish} butter and it’s a lot more spreadable. So for dinner I chose to have bread with butter. My brother’s growing cress for a sciences project so I added some on top of the bread for some extra nutrients
The bread is my absolute favorite from our local bakery.
And since this is the last “WIAW Summer Staples Edition” I wanted to share two of my most recent summer obesessions.
1. Oven Summer Vegetables {nothing new there
}. Anything with mozzarella is a real treat but for Monday’s dinner I used buffalo mozzarella which blew me away. The taste was phenomenal.
2. Mango flavored black tea. I found this little sconery right in the center of Munich and they sell the most exotic tea flavors you can imagine. At home we enjoy strawberry black tea with breakfast and I’ve sort of missed that the last 2 months. I couldn’t find strawberry tea but the mango tea was the perfect replacement.
Have a very happy WIAW and enjoy those last hot summer days

I didn’t even realize that and I totally missed it! Can’t believe summer is ending…and I have such conflicting feelings.
Your food shots always look effortless and beautiful…I would love to see a post (or a comment) on your camera settings!
Hi Clair! I’ve been planning on a photography request since I’ve been getting a couple of requests lately. But for now: I generally shoot in AV mode and only shoot manually if I have a lot of time to correct my settings, which usually, I don’t!
You’ve got me drooling over your pancakes
