I am now back at home after a couple of beautiful days skiing with my family. I am so glad that I could take a week off from Uni and am not missing anything majorly important, other than lectures because spending the week with my family was so worth it. I’ll be spending the rest of the weekend at home before flying back to England on Monday morning.
Our drive home yesterday was fast and luckily we weren’t stuck in any major traffic. It would have been another beautiful day to ski…
…but instead we got to see our dog Sunny again which wasn’t bad either. She enjoyed the ride back home drooling all over me in the car!
Even though the food at our hotel was excellent and our snacks along the way were always sooo good it’s good to be at home, eating my mom’s home-made food. It’s always nice to have a normal portion-sized meal after a week of eating hotel buffet food.
My mom prepared a huge mixed salad with turkey strips marinaded in soy sauce. This is a quick and easy way to prepare meat and does not require any additional seasoning.
For dessert we had something traditionally Austrian: Wuchteln. These are yeast dough dumplings filled with apricot jam (which my mom makes herself!) and nutella (yum yum!) served with vanilla sauce on the side. Due to the fact that my dad has diabetes we’ve been experimenting with stevia. Neither the “Wuchteln” nor the vanilla sauce contained sugar and I was surprised that you couldn’t really taste a difference. My mom made the dumplings with spelt flour so they reallywere quite the healthy treat!
(Sorry for the lack in food styling!)
Who really needs a hotel dinner buffet if mom’s home-made lunch tastes equally as delicious? 😉
What I really miss though is our “ski snacks” we had in the ski lifts.
Off to do some work for Uni!
What are your experiences with stevia?
